Provides operational and clinical oversight for all aspects of Employee Health Services for Baptist to include post offer examination and clearance process, workers’ compensation case management, and FMLA/other medical leaves of absence administration.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to development and implementation of employee safety strategies, occupational health programs, and educational offerings relative to employee health topics.  Ensures compliance with all applicable regulatory guidelines and agencies; works in close collaboration with infection control team to ensure employee health initiatives align with infection control strategies/standards/guidelines; facilitates/supports  standardization through the development/participation in the development and implementation of system-wide policies, procedures, processes and programs/services; consults with employee health professionals throughout the system providing counsel, guidance and advice on employee health issues/matters.    Essential Job Functions:   - Provides clinical direction to employee health programs/services and provides guidance, counsel, advice and education to employee health professionals system-wide. Coordinates employee health activities working closely infection control practitioners, physicians and/or committees to control infectionsand infectious diseases. - Manages the pre-placement evaluations including occupational history and physician examination and immunization screening. - Directs workers’ compensation and occupational health programs/processes to reduce costs related to work related injuries/illnesses through employee safety initiatives, proactive case management, transitional duty oversight, and educational programs. - Monitors employee’s progress throughout workers’ compensation recovery period assessing transitional duty activities and designated care/treatment plan if leave of absence is the required course of action. Works in close collaboration with Human Resources, Risk Management/Insurance and workers’ compensation third party administrator. - Provides FMLA administration and oversight to ensure compliance with all regulatory guidelines and regulations. Acts as subject matter expert for FMLA matters and other medical leaves of absence system-wide.  - Assesses and monitors all other employee requests for sick leaves of absence, determines eligibility for treatments, makes use of clinical data/information in order to determine whether the plan of care being provided meets the employee's needs, and arranges for additional services as needed in order to help employee’s achieve desired outcomes. - Directs and manages employee clearance process by evaluating medical documentation before allowing employees to return from a leave of absence. - Administers fitness for duty program to include reviewing all at-work incidents, monitoring adherence to program provisions and back to work agreements. - Facilitates/supports standardization efforts through the development/participation in the development, implementation and/or administration of policies/procedures, processes, programs/services working with employee health professionals throughout the system, human resources and others in order to ensure consistency in policy application and continuity of services. - Acts as the system-wide liaison/resource for pandemic medical issues, communicates updates and regulatory requirements, and administers all pandemic plans for employee health professionals throughout the Baptist system. - Researches, develops, implements, and evaluates “best practices” to support the design of most effective/efficient employee health clinical practices to meet the needs of BMHCC employee population. - Analyzes data, trends and outcomes regarding employee health issues and/or occupational program delivery for reporting purposes to senior leadership and makes appropriate changes to promote a safer work environment. - Develops policies and procedures or participates in said development. Adheres to all applicable laws to include Family and Medical Leave Act, Tennessee Maternity Leave Act, Americans with Disabilities, and OSHA regulations.
