  • Overview and Responsibilities

    Provides pharmaceutical care services including, but not limited to oversight, monitoring, preparation, dispensing and proper documentation of patient medication therapy as well as providing drug information, patient information, and oversight of information and dispensing systems; ensure compliance with Federal, State and local laws and regulations as well as proper storage and documentation. Compounds and dispenses prescribed medications, and other pharmaceuticals for patient care, according to professional standards and state and federal legal requirements. Monitors patient's drug therapy to evaluate appropriateness of use, dose, dosage regimen, route of administration, therapeutic duplication, and drug interactions. Provides patient education regarding drug therapy as required. Participates in the detection, monitoring, documentation, management, and reporting of adverse drug reactions. Provides drug information to other healthcare professionals. Monitors clinical laboratory data to monitor drug regimen efficacy and/or toxicity. Supervises and assists Pharmacy Technicians in the compounding, labeling, and dispensing of medications and supplies, including chemotherapy and other sterile compounds. Performs other duties as assigned.


    Education: Bachelor's Degree Pharmacy-Accredited Required. Doctorate Degree Pharmacy - Accredited Preferred. *** Experience: 6 months Healthcare/Medical - Institutional Pharmacy Required. 1 year Healthcare/Medical-Institutional Pharmacy Preferred. *** License/Certification/Registries (valid for the State of MS): Pharmacist Licensed by the Board of Pharmacy Required. *** Skills: Must be able to work as part of a dynamic team. Ability to work independently and handle stress appropriately. Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with various members of healthcare teams, physicians and staff. Ability to set priorities, make critical decisions, and respond quickly to emergency requests. Ability to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload.
