Overview and Responsibilities

                                                                             

            Baptist Memorial Hospital-Desoto is looking for a dynamic nursing leader to direct the Emergency Department

 

Baptist Memorial Hospital – Desoto is one of 23 hospitals owned and operated by Baptist Memorial Health Care Corporation (BMHCC) in Memphis, Tennessee.

In the early 1980’s the parent corporation purchased approximately 200 acres of pastureland within the city limits of Southaven, Mississippi.  In 1988, Baptist Memorial Hospital – Desoto opened as a community hospital. In 2006, Baptist DeSoto built the bed tower, making the former community-based hospital a major medical center serving all of North Mississippi.

Baptist DeSoto is a 339-bed hospital Level 3 Trauma Center that offers acute care, diagnostic, surgical, rehabilitation services, and is a certified chest pain center.  A recent $19 million emergency department expansion and renovation project added 20,000 square feet to the facility.

 

The ED Nurse Director will have complete oversight of an ER that sees over 73,000 visits per year. The Nurse Director of the Emergency Department will oversee the recently expanded and renovated, 53 bed Emergency Room.

Qualifications

 

 

Experience Required: Minimum of 3 years progressive, outcome oriented, management leadership experience preferably in the Emergency Department.

 

Education: Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred.

 

Licensure Required:  RN

 

Special Skills:  Knowledge of health care issues, trends, legal compliance and managed care with emphasis in all components of nursing operation.

                      Ability to foster collaborative partnerships in the development, implementation and administration  of service and program delivery.
