Social workers will identify and assist patients and their support systems to become engaged in a collaborative process to address a patient's social needs. Intervention is appropriate for actual or suspected child abuse, neglect, sexual assault, domestic violence, substance abuse, compromised living conditions (including homelessness), economical or financial barriers to compliance with care needs, and any situation where a patient's condition or illness presents as a life-changing event. The Social Worker's objective is to achieve an optimal level of social wellbeing for patients, improve coordination of services and contribute to the provision of cost-effective healthcare.
Education: Graduate School of Social Work-Accredited Required. Master's Degree Social Work within two years of employment Required. Master's Social Work Preferred. *** Experience: 3 Years Related Experience Required. Healthcare/Medical - Acute Care Preferred. *** License/Certification/Registries (valid for the State of MS): Licensed Social Worker (LSW) Required. *** Skills: Ability to work with acute and chronically ill patients of all ages and their caregivers. Excellent interpersonal communication, multi-tasking and prioritization skills. Ability to work effectively with teams in a collaborative manner and escalate issues appropriately. Ability to work weekends and flexible hours per the department staffing plan. Ability to be on call during off shift hours to respond for crisis intervention.
