  • Overview and Responsibilities

    Provides leadership in the development of physician relations and outreach activities to align with strategic organizational goals to expand physician referral sources, strengthen physician relationships, increase market share/physician referral base, and promotion of educational initiatives to expand community awareness for Baptist Medical Group (BMG) in designated geographic markets. Works under the direction of the Executive Director, Baptist Memorial Medical Group (BMG).

    Essential Functions:


    1. Leads the planning and implementation of outreach efforts concentrating on physicians, and other potential referral sources throughout the Baptist Market areas.
    2. Maintains and builds relationships with senior leadership at all Baptist Hospital facilities for better communication and business development. 
    3. Collaborates on initiatives for continuing education programs for physician office staff, managers and administrators regarding Baptist and BMG updates, services/capabilities and contacts.  
    4. Works closely with Corporate Communications to plan and implement events throughout the Baptist to expand BMG referrals and enhance physician relations.  
    5. Assists in the development and implementation of initiatives focusing on increased referral capabilities and referral retention strategies.  
    6. Collaborates with Corporate Communications and IT Departments on BMG website development, referral tools and other business development tools. Identifies needs for additional tools and collaborates with other stakeholders to develop or obtain needed tools.  
    7. Leads the development of communication strategies working in coordination with Corporate Communications using a variety of mediums to target defined physician populations in order to create a consistent corporate image, increase community awareness/education and proactively promote physician service offerings and capabilities.
    8. Facilitates process of building relationships with physicians, physician office staffs and other potential referral sources throughout the designated geographic market(s). Develops and facilitates presentations and educational programs to familiarize physicians and staffs with BMG service lines.
    9. Develops and strengthens physician referral relationships in order to expand referral and redirection opportunities for BMG physicians.
    10. Schedules new physician meetings and introductions between BMG physicians and hospital medical staff to reinforce collaborative working partnerships/relationships.
    11. Monitors status of physician referrals and provides regular follow up to ensure satisfaction of services received. Proactively implements effective intervention strategies to address concerns/issues in order to strengthen strategic physician relationships and exceed physician expectations.  
    12. Participates as appropriate in BMG and BMHCC leadership initiatives to obtain current information and communicate appropriately with physicians and team members
    13.  Serves as a liaison with the BHSG Provider Relations department, to provide updated SHA and managed care information to physicians.
    14. Performs related responsibilities as required or assigned.






    Minimum Qualifications:


    Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing or related field or equivalent experience. Clinical and/or health care experience preferred. 


    Demonstrated organizational and project management skills required. Excellent interpersonal skills (written and verbal) with ability to design and/or present educational offerings promoting healthcare services and/or foster collaborative business relationships. Public speaking and presentation capability.


    Proven success in balancing multiple projects, meeting deadlines and cultivating interpersonal relationships.
