  • Overview and Responsibilities

    Exclusively designed for the Allied Health professional with at least a 2 year degree and enrolled in the AHIMA Cancer Information Management Certificate Program. Credentialling (CTR) must be obtained within 18 months of commencement of program. Performs casefinding, abstractiing, and patient follow-up while demonstrating incremental knowledte in cancer coding principles using FORDS, ICD-O, Collaborative Staging, Multiple Primary & Histology Coding Rules, AJCC Staging, and State cancer reporting guidelines. Must meet the Baptist Tumor Registry incremental competency timeframe. Must demonstrate attention to de tail, possess organizational skills, multi-tasking abilities, time management skills, and has strong verbal and written communication skills. Performs other duties as assigned.

    Description Minimum Required Preferred / Desired

    Experience: Previous Allied Health experience At least 6 months experience in an Allied Health field.RHIT, RHIA or cancer-related allied health field preferred.

     

    Education

    2-year degree in Allied Health At least a 2 year degree in an Allied Health field and enrollment in an NCRA-Accredited Formal Education Program. RHIT, RHIA or cancer-related allied health field preferred.

     

    Training

    On-the-job mentoring provided by experienced CTRs. Strong command of medical terminology and anatomy.

     

    Special Skills

    Microsoft Office Strong working knowledge of Microsoft

    Office Word, Excel and Power Point.

    Understanding of medical coding a plus.

     

    Licensure

    RHIA, RHIT
