Overview and Responsibilities
To provide support and assistance to mental health service staff for patient care activities. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the transporting of patients to and from facility sites, meal provisions, supervision of patients during staff break periods; assists patient group activities as requested; provides support to patients for assistance with personal hygiene and daily living skills. Is responsible for reporting/communicating to clinical staff any problematic or clinical issues they observe while on duty. Performs all other duties as assigned.
Education: High school diploma or GED required. *** Experience: One (1) year of experience assisting in the care of mental health patients in an acute or ambulatory setting preferred. *** License/Certification/Registries (valid for the State of MS): Basic Life Support (CPR) certification within 30 days of employment. CPI Certification within first 3 months of employment. Current Class R driving license with clean driving record required. *** Skills: Ability to respond and interact appropriately to the unique needs of the geriatric population required.
