  • Overview and Responsibilities

    Major job duties consist of assisting Patient Access Specialists with financial questions/issues, contact with patients (via phone, mail or in person) for purposes of requesting reimbursement and providing financial assistance/counseling, completion of various applications, as appropriate (i.e. CHIP, Medicaid, credit, charity, etc.), reviewing self pay patient reports and accounts to determine appropriateness of referrals to HealthCare Resource, LLC (contracted vendor), working closely with HealthCare Resource, LLC, as well as external agencies (such as the Department of Human Services) and insurance companies, working closely with provider offices and hospital departments on surgical procedure cost estimates and performing other duties as assigned (i.e. registration, reception, quality review, insurance verification, etc.).

    Qualifications

    Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent Required. Associate's Degree Preferred. *** Experience: 3 years Healthcare/Medical - Admissions Required, or 3 years Healthcare/Medical - Insurance Processes Required, or 3 years Insurance - Collections Required. If degree prepared, no experience necessary. *** Skills: Type 35 wpm. Operate CRT/PC, calculator, copier, telephone, fax machine, scanner. Proficient in data entry. Must have interpersonal skills sufficient to effectively and cordially interact with staff, patients, medical staff, families and visitors. Must have interpersonal skills sufficient to effectively and cordially interact with staff, patients, medical staff, families, and visitors, as well as time management, analytical and negotiation skills. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
