  • Overview and Responsibilities

    Responsible for the timely follow-up and completion of all insurance billing functions, both paper and electronic claims. Performs other duties as assigned.


    Experience Description: Requirements include at least one of the following: Medical Collections experience, Physician billing experience or Insurance company experience *** Experience Minimum Required: One year customer service, collections or third party collections. Indication of good customer skills a plus *** Experience Preferred/Desired: Experience in Medical collections on the hospital side to handle collection calls to medical insurance companies on current claims and rebills. *** Education Description: Possess fundamentals of medical coding, billing and/or insurance. *** Education Minimum Required: Skill in communicating clearly and effectively using standard English in written, oral and verbal format to achieve high productivity and efficiency. Skill to write legibly and record information accurately as necessary to perform job duties. *** Education Desired/Preferred: Competent in the medical billing cycle to include third party payers, coding concepts and form preparation. *** Training Description: knowledge of computer concepts, including fundamental functions and operations of the computer. Ability to identify hardware components, demonstrate proficiency of basic computer operations, security issues, and use of applicable software applications. *** Training Minimum Required: Customer relations skill sets. *** Training Desired/Preferred: PC skill workshops, medical terminology course, customer relations skill sets. *** Special Skills Description: None *** Special Skills Minimum Required: Ability to type and/or key accurately, problem solving, written and oral communication skills, financial counseling skills. *** Special Skills Desired/Preferred: Knowledge of insurance billing and collections. Knowledge of insurance guidelines. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Effective customer service skills. *** Licensure Description: Passes FDCPA exam within 60 days of hire. *** Licensure Minimum: None *** Licensure Preferred: None
