  • Overview and Responsibilities

    Provides specialized clinical pharmacy services to improve drug usage and therapeutic outcomes including, but not limited to, advising physicians on issues concerning drug therapy, the inherent toxicity of drugs and their side effects, as well as assisting in the prescription of appropriate doses. Develop, lead and/or provide direction, and participate in therapy specific clinical teams with responsibility for establishing and continually improving the delivery of pharmaceutical care to patients within areas of direct responsibility and assisting others in the department with the same. Participate in the development and delivery of continuing education programs for Pharmacy, Patient Care Services, Medical Staff and students. Performs all other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Education: Bachelor's Degree School of Pharmacy-Accredited Required, or Doctorate Degree Pharmacy - Accredited Preferred. Completion Pharmacy Practice Residency Preferred. *** Experience: 1 year Healthcare/Medical - Pharmaceutical Required, or Completion Institutional Rotation Required. 2 years Healthcare/Medical - Pharmaceutical Preferred. Completion of a PGY1, PGY2, or accredited clinical residency program preferred. A demonstrated ability to achieve positive patient outcomes in a similar environment (for those with BS Pharmacy degree) preferred. *** Skills: Thorough knowledge on drugs, medical procedures, and therapies, diagnosis, disease states, and pharmacokinetics. Good communicator, educator, and ability to work both as a team leader as well as team member. Requires high degree of concentration and attention to detail. Work under occasional stressful conditions with frequent interruptions.
