Overview and Responsibilities


  • Diagnoses and implements technical solutions to biomedical equipment problems by providing technical repair and maintenance services on sophisticated biomedical technology, as well as, providing a variety of service support to clinical departments and physicians to ensure the highest possible reliability and performance of patient care technology.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Supports patient diagnosing and treatment by installing, testing, calibrating, and repairing biomedical equipment; training users; maintaining safe operations.

    Maintains biomedical equipment by completing preventive maintenance schedules; conducting tests; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting

    and repairing malfunctions; calling for special service; evaluating service contracts; maintaining equipment inventories.


Experience Description:


Minimum Required: Hospital based internship as part of academic program.

Experience Preferred/Desired: One year of biomedical engineering experience in the healthcare setting.


Documentation Skills, Analyzing Information , Creating a Safe, Effective Environment, Infection Control, Training Management, Lab Environment, Clinical Lab Testing, Confidentiality, Equipment Calibration, Sterilization, & Conceptual Skills


Education Description:


Education Minimum Required: Associate's degree in biomedical engineering or equivalent.

Education Desired/Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in appropriate field.


Successful completion of a Clinical/Biomedical Equipment Technician training program or Military equivalent training in Clinical Engineering or Associate degree in Electronics.


Training Description: Desired/Preferred: Completion of vocational or technical training programs desired. Special Skills Minimum Required: Basic computer literacy skills required.  Licensure Minimum: DRIVER'S LICENSE (CURRENT) *** Licensure Preferred: CBET
